Help Us On Our Journey

The Castlepark site is currently home to East United Football Club. Founded in 2003 by a number of local volunteers the clubhouse and pitches currently on the site are owned and leased by Galway City Council.

With a large catchment area of young families the club has seen 100's of local children pass through its doors. Voluntary Coaching staff train juveniles as young as 9 right through to adults playing in the First Division in the Galway Football Association.

Summer Camps are provided each year for children of all ages and social activities are scheduled throughout the year to entertain those of all ages.

The club is also known for its links with local charities. recent years have seen "Fight-Nights" organised by the club in aid of the Galway Hospice and Galway Autism Partnership.

Community Needs

With a large catchment area that is continuously growing, we currently do not have the facilities to meet the needs of our surrounding community. While at the moment we can cater for soccer training and playing needs, there is a void for facilities in the areas of other sports. Sports such as Rugby and Athletics are only getting more popular and the demand is at an all time high with the lack of these types of facilities throughout Galway City and County. We are fortunate to be surrounded by the land needed to meet these needs and develomplent of the site would see the following being built and more sports teams embedded into our community.

Proposed development will include:
  • Extension of the existing clubhouse for added changing rooms, canteen facilities and hall.
  • New indoor astro turf building
  • Outdoor pitches for Soccer and Rugby
  • Six Lane Running Track
  • Outdoor playground
  • Outdoor Gym Equipment
